Beach Fishing on Anglesey

If you are lucky enough to be a holiday home owner at our Silver Bay Holiday Park, then you will enjoy direct access to Silver Bay beach which is a prime fishing spot on the island.

Based in Rhoscolyn, Silver Bay beach runs alongside our holiday park. Anglers who head here will regularly find pollack and mackerel, in addition to cod and tope at certain points of the year. Irrespective of whether you are rock fishing at Silver Bay or looking to arrange a sea fishing charter, you will still be in with a great chance of hooking an impressive specimen.

Peak season for fishing at Silver Bay beach tends to be between July and October, with dusk and dawn being the optimal times of day. However, there tends to be plenty of species in the waters at any time of the year. Just remember to wrap up warm during the winter months.

Rock & Sea Fishing in Moelfre

If you are a holiday home owner at our Woodland Falls Holiday Park meanwhile, then you will be best opting for a spot of sea fishing in Moelfre if you are looking to stay local, with Moelfre beach being located just over 2 miles away from our resort.

There is plenty of free parking available near to this shingle beach which is a great destination for catching mackerel, pollack, dogfish, wrasse and many other species off the rocks.

If you have made the early morning trip, then you are advised to head to the nearby Traeth Bychan Beach Shop & Café which is open between Easter and September every year. The menu on offer here is varied, but their breakfast range is sure to give you the kick start to the day that you need.

The Best Anglesey Sea Fishing Trips

There is a wealth of Anglesey sea fishing trips available to choose from with some of the more popular setting sail from Holyhead. One option is the aptly named Anglesey Fishing & Boat trips, who offer everything from wreck fishing on Anglesey for the more experienced anglers to introductory sessions for children aged 5 and over.

Any newcomers to the hobby who want to avoid doing harm to the creatures will be delighted to know that tope fishing is on offer to customers taking these trips. For anyone who hasn’t encountered this term, it is effectively the practice of catching and releasing fish without taking them out of the water.

Best Fishing Lakes on Anglesey

It’s not all about the sea fishing though, with there also being a number of great fishing lakes on Anglesey too.

One of the best of these is unquestionably Breakwater Country Park in Holyhead. This falls under the umbrella of the Ynys Mon Angling Association’s collection of coarse fishing spots. Day tickets are available to purchase which give you access to the three fishing lakes that are on offer here with bream, carp, pike, tench, pike and perch are just some of the species that you will find. There are also disabled fishing positions available here.

Alongside being a prime Anglesey fishing spot, these lakes are also set in very picturesque surroundings with sections of the park being located in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). The history of the area is also fully reflected here with the park being entrenched in a site which was formerly the longest stone quarry in Europe.

On the other side of the island there is Llyn Y Gorse Coarse fishery too. As with Breakwater country park, there are three fishing lakes on offer here, with one being a carp syndicate lake and another being dedicated to catfish. This is in addition to a large tackle shop which stocks all of the fishing essentials.
