Empowering Futures: Providing Education and Food for Underprivileged Children in Kenya
The Reality of Childhood in Kenya
In Kenya, many children face daily struggles that are difficult to imagine. Poverty, hunger, and lack of access to education are just a few of the challenges they encounter. For these children, the simple act of going to school is often overshadowed by the more immediate concern of where their next meal will come from. Despite these hardships, there is hope—hope that comes from the power of community and the generosity of people like you.
Why Education Matters
Education is more than just a pathway to a better job; it’s a gateway to a brighter future. For children growing up in poverty, education provides the skills and knowledge they need to break free from the cycle of poverty. It equips them with the tools to dream bigger, aim higher, and achieve their goals.
However, for many children in Kenya, access to education remains a distant dream. Schools may be too far away, too costly, or simply nonexistent. Without the basic supplies, uniforms, or even the nutrition needed to focus and learn, these children are left behind, trapped in a cycle that seems impossible to escape.
How You Can Make a Difference
As you may know, this summer a volunteer from Anglesey hoping to host a sports day at a school in Kenya, reached out on social media in search of medals as prizes for the children, so Bulmer Leisure donated 100 medals and a range of certificates to support their event. We have since found out that the school, a non profit community school which provides education and food for orphaned children and children in need are in urgent need of support.
Bethesda Development Organisation provide quality education for over 70 children in a small town called Kitale in Kenya and they strive for global change and development in small communities.
With the help of donations and volunteers, the school has been able to provide education and food for all of the children.
However, Bethesda Education currently rent out the land they use for their school. The owner of the land is terminally ill, and therefore has sold the land. Bethesda Education urgently need to raise the funds to purchase new land so they can continue to provide for the children.
If you would like to help us ensure that the children of Kitale continue to receive food and the education they deserve, please kindly donate to this cause.
