Best Vegan Food on Anglesey

Being Vegan doesn’t mean having to make sacrifices when it comes to eating out on Anglesey with there being plenty of great restaurants to choose from for those of the vegan persuasion.

We’ve utilised our first hand experiences of eating out in the local area to put together our list of the best Vegan food on Anglesey. This isn’t just a list of great Vegan restaurants, we are also taking into account more traditional eateries who offer vegan food that is a cut above the competition. Without further delay, let’s start with number 1…

1. Green Olive – Menai Bridge
The Green Olive has to take the number 1 spot on account of being the only completely vegan restaurant on Anglesey.

This wonderful cafe is situated right in the heart of Menai Bridge and offers a selection of Vegan comfort foods ranging from hearty breakfasts and sandwiches, to cakes and nibbles. Food is served from 9am till 4pm daily with separate breakfast and lunch menus.

With the promise that no meat or animal products are used on the premises, the Green Olive offers customers a warm and welcoming atmosphere where staff will happily cater for any dietary requirements. If you are dining after 12pm then we’d highly recommend trying their Katsu Curry which can be served with either breaded seitan or fried tofu.

2. Catch 22 Brasserie – Valley
The Catch 22 Brasserie near Holyhead is unquestionably one of the most famous and renowned restaurants on Anglesey, with this family run establishment attracting foodies for miles around.

However, a more recent development that you may not be aware of is that the Catch 22 Brasserie now offers a dedicated vegan menu made up of starters, mains and desserts. There are a number of stand out dishes on this menu including their brilliant onion bhaji burger and banana sticky toffee pudding which is also gluten free!

3. The Island Cove Benllech
If you are a fan of a good hearty breakfast, then The Island Cove will no doubt be a contender in your list of the best vegan food on Anglesey.

Open every day except Mondays from 9:30am, The Island Cove is famous for its full vegan breakfast which is made up of 2 vegan sausages, 2 hash browns, beans, tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach and toast to top it all off. Alternatively, you can try one of their slightly less daunting breakfast baps with vegan variants of their sausage and bacon offerings available.

The cafe is only open until 2pm, but they still offer a lunch time menu which includes vegan dishes. Headlining this is their sensational vegan burger which is served with vegan cheese, lettuce & tomato. This is every bit as tasty as their breakfasts.

4. The Midland Tapas & Wine Bar – Beaumaris
Those of you who like trying a little bit of everything will no doubt love the Midland Tapas and Wine Bar in Beaumaris. Serving Spanish style small plates, the Midland was opened in 2016 and quickly established itself as one of the most popular eateries in the town.

Head chef Damien Illade Gómez hails from Alicante and aims to recreate the great flavours that his homeland is renowned for in this welcoming Welsh eatery. His menu includes a wide selection of vegan options including their tasty Spanish bean stew which is made using vegan cheese. Other vegan dishes on the menu include their veggie paella, spicy patatas bravas and refreshing sorbets for dessert.

5. Ty Crempog Tyddyn Mon Pancake House – Dulas
So far we’ve highlighted vegan food on Anglesey which is ideal breakfast, lunch and evening meals, but what about if you fancy a treat?

Those of you who have a sweet tooth are advised to pay a visit to the y Crempog Tyddyn Mon Pancake House pancake house in Dulas where the welcoming team are happy to craft vegan variants of almost all of the dishes on the menu. This includes their classic stacker pancakes and sweet crepes, both of which can be served with bananas, strawberries or blueberries.

By giving your custom to the pancake house, you will also be supporting a good cause with Tyddyn Môn having been supporting adults with learning difficulties on Anglesey for over 30 years.

6. The Deck House – Rhoscolyn
If you are a holiday home owner at Silver Bay Holiday Park, then you don’t even need to leave the resort in order to get your hands on some sumptuous Vegan food as our Deck House restaurant serves a selection of vegan dishes.

We change our menu seasonally to ensure that we provide our customers meals which are prepared using the very best local ingredients. Our current menu features a mouthwatering Moroccan falafel vegan burger which is served with harissa mayo and fries. Alternatively, you may prefer our red lentil dhal curry which is served with wild rice, naan bread and sweet mango chutney.

For dessert, vegan diners can choose from our sticky toffee pudding or our vegan vanilla ice cream which is served with homemade honeycomb.
