The Best Roast Dinner on Anglesey

Posted: 10th March, 2024

One of the best parts of the week is sitting down with those you love for a delectable, scrummy roast dinner. And what makes it all the more enjoyable is when you haven’t had to cook it yourself.

The next time that you are staying with us at Silver Bay Holiday Park, there are plenty of great places to choose from if you are looking for one of the best roast dinners on Anglesey. We’ve taken on the difficult challenge of sampling many of these fine eateries which are made up of restaurants, hotels, holiday parks and even golf course bistros. The reason? To finally determine the very best places to head to for a roast dinner on Anglesey.

Here are some of our top picks:

1. The Deckhouse Restaurant – Silver Bay Holiday Park

You don’t even need to get in your car to sample one of the best roast dinners in Anglesey. Our very own Deckhouse Restaurant at Silver Bay Holiday Park is without question one of the very best.

Our experienced team utilise the very best local produce to put together simple yet tantalising dishes which are sure to put a smile on everyone’s face. With our roast dinner you can expect succulent meat, fresh veggies and crispy yet fluffy potatoes – a hearty delight for all who choose to indulge! And there’s a range of beautiful puddings too to round off your meal.

You can grab a roast dinner at The Deckhouse between midday and 7pm on a Sunday with a wide selection of beverages also on offer to accompany your meal. Make sure that you book way ahead of time to avoid the disappointment of missing out. Table reservations can be made by calling us on 01407 862046.

2. The Lobster Pot – Church Bay

The Lobster Pot is better thought of as one of the best seafood restaurants on Anglesey. However, it also offers one of the best roast dinners on Anglesey too with a special 3 course menu available on Sundays.

You’ll be able to choose from starters such as homemade soups, chicken liver pate and spicy crab cakes. There are also vegetarian options such as samosas and spring rolls.

With the main, you can expect classics such as mashed and roast potatoes, gravy and a crisp yet soft Yorkshire pudding. There are five meats to choose from too including pork, duckling and even salmon if you’re feeling like something a little adventurous. There’s also lobster on offer if you want a Sunday roast with a twist!

3. Trearddur Bay Hotel – Trearddur Bay

What we really love about the Trearddur Bay Hotel is the extensive menu they have on offer. This is changed seasonally, with both spring and winter menus around. Yet it’s the traditional roast dinner which really sets our stomachs rumbling here.

There isn’t just one meat on your plate at this restaurant, and there aren’t two either. There are THREE meats on this dish, and this is matched perfectly alongside Yorkshire puddings, roasties, veggies and even optional cauliflower cheese!

You can round this gorgeous roast dinner dream with a heavenly dessert. Whether you’re a lemon cheesecake kind of person, or perhaps fancy going out and indulging in the American classic Knickerbocker Glory, there’ll be something on offer here to satisfy anyone with a sweet tooth.

4. The White Eagle – Rhoscolyn

The Deckhouse isn’t the only restaurant in Rhoscolyn to have made our list of the best places for roast dinner on Anglesey. We’d also strongly recommend paying a visit to the nearby White Eagle pub which overlooks the beautiful Borth Wen Beach.

Purchased by the Timpson family in 2007 who are better known for their key cutting services, the pub underwent a significant redevelopment which resulted in the ultra modern complex that you find today. Upon entering the restaurant you will immediately be struck by the welcoming family vibe where no member of the family is excluded, and that includes your dog who will be treated just as well by the attentive staff as you will be.

In terms of their Sunday roast, diners have the option to choose between lamb, beef or half a roast chicken, all of which are served with a gigantic Yorkshire pudding and fresh vegetables. The choice of starters and puddings changes weekly, but we’d strongly advocate trying the sticky toffee pudding if it happens to be available during your visit.

5. Harry’s Bistro – Beaumaris

Our final entry on the list comes from Harry’s Bistro in Beaumaris which is based in the majestic Henllys Hall, an historic mansion house which was built in the 1880s. This is located on the grounds of Henllys Golf Club, giving sporting enthusiasts another worthwhile reason to visit the eatery.

Harry’s Bistro is only open between 12-2pm on a Sunday, but it is still more than worth a visit for anyone who is looking for a tasty roast dinner on Anglesey. They have a special Sunday menu which tends to change regularly, so if you want the most up to date information it’s best to give them a call. Popular starters include rarebit Welsh tartlet and tempura king prawns, while for the main you can choose between Welsh beef, lamb, roast chicken and even cod if you fancy something a little different. All of these are served with roast potatoes and a selection of scrummy fresh vegetables.

For dessert, you can expect the likes of apricot crumble, fresh fruit pavlova, a cheeseboard and much more. You won’t be disappointed with a visit to Harry’s Bistro for a relaxing, scrumptious roast dinner on Anglesey.
