Best Dog Friendly Pubs on Anglesey
Anglesey is a pet lovers paradise, with the island’s many coastal and countryside walking routes making it a popular destination with those who are looking to enjoy an active pet friendly holiday.
This is also reflected in the facilities, with there being plenty of exceptional dog friendly pubs on Anglesey which treat the four legged members of the family with just as much respect as they do the humans of the group.
We thought it might be quite helpful if we were to put together a short list of the best dog friendly pubs on Anglesey so that you know the best places to head to after you’ve taken in one of the many scenic walks that are available on the island. Let’s start with one that is right on the doorstep of Silver Bay Holiday Park…
1. The White Lion – Newborough
The White Lion in Newborough is unquestionably the best dog friendly pub on Anglesey. Not only do the landlords welcome dogs with open arms, they even have their own on-site dog shower which is ideal after you have spent some time exploring the nearby Llanddwyn beach.
If Doctor Dolittle were to own a pub, then it would definitely be just like The White Lion. That’s because in addition to the dog shower, there is even a resident pub dog and parrots that your own pooch may want to befriend.
The humans are equally as well catered for at The White Lion which serves an award winning menu of pub classics all of which are made using fresh local ingredients. There is even a separate light bites menu if you don’t quite have the appetite for one of their filling roast dinners, the mammoth White Lion Burger or their acclaimed fish pie which is topped with melted cheese.
2. The White Eagle – Rhoscolyn
Located just 1 mile away from Silver Bay Holiday Park is the family oriented White Eagle pub in Rhoscolyn. All family members are well and truly welcomed here, with there being pet friendly tables both inside and out. The staff will even happily provide your furry companion with a bowl of water and a few free treats so that they truly feel at home.
The outdoor seating on the terrace is the perfect place to soak up the summer rays, with exceptional coastal views just adding to the magic. However, the rustic interior of the pub is also incredibly inviting and benefits from plenty of natural light thanks to the feature floor to ceiling central window which makes the most of the scenery.
Irrespective of whether you opt to dine or just drink at The White Eagle, you are sure to be impressed with the pub serving a range of real ales and exceptional wines. The food is up to an equally high standard with meats having been sourced from an award winning local butcher and fish coming straight from the Menai.
3. Kinmel Arms – Moelfre
If you are a holiday home owner at Woodland Falls, then the closest pet friendly pub on Anglesey that we would recommend frequenting is The Kinmel Arms in nearby Moelfre.
This Robinson’s owned pub is ideally placed to provide guests with panoramic views of Moelfre Bay and lies close to a shingle beach which your pooch will no doubt love exploring whilst you are in the area.
After you’ve finished exploring the surrounding region, you can then sit inside or out with your furry friend, with the pub making a special effort to make your dog feel welcome thanks to their ample supply of treats and water bowls. The humans of the group are equally as well catered for, with cask ales, wines and spirits on offer in addition to a seasonal menu consisting of all of your favourite gastro pub classics including fish & chips, gammon & chips, scampi, burgers and lasagna.
4. The Inn at the Bay – Trearddur Bay
Located in the Trearddur Bay hotel in (you guessed it) Trearddur Bay, The Inn at the Bay is one of three on-site bars at the venue. Open to the general public in addition to Anglesey holiday guests, The Inn at the Bay welcomes dogs into the garden and bar, but they are excluded from the restaurant section.
Despite this, The Inn at the Bay is a great location for a pet friendly day out as it is located conveniently close to the beach which is one of the most popular on the island. With its soft golden sands and clean waters, Trearddur Bay beach is sure to be a hit with both humans and animals.
The same can be said about The Inn at the Bay which dishes out treats to pets and exceptional cuisine to the humans. While you will find traditional gastro pub classics such as fish & chips, burgers, gammon, scampi and pies, there are also some slightly more unusual additions such as their King prawn linguine, roast salmon fillet and honey roast duck breast. Make sure you save room for pudding too, because that menu includes baked banana bread!
5. Anglesey Arms, Menai Bridge
Another hotel which is also a dog friendly pub on Anglesey is the Anglesey Arms in Menai Bridge. Dogs are permitted in the bar area here where they are provided with their own water bowl and almost always given plenty of fuss from the dog loving staff. There is also an outdoor seating area that is dog friendly and surrounded by enchanting woodland views.
The humans meanwhile are also in for a treat when it comes to the food menu which is pretty much identical to that which is available at the aforementioned Inn at the Bay which is also in the J.W. Lee’s collection of hotels & pubs.
That of course means that at both of these establishments you will be able to select from their wide selection of special ales and beers. This includes their original bitter and lager, in addition to an ever changing seasonal range such as Harvest Ale which is normally released during the festive period.
