To ensure you explore the best of the island we have collated routes for all abilities, long and short, on either side of the island.
Take a look below to discover the perfect walk for you, with plenty of options from both Silver Bay and Woodland Falls.
Dog Walking Routes Close to Silver Bay
Silver Bay Beach
Type: Point to point
Distance: Variable
Where: Silver Bay, 5 min walk from Silver Bay / 40 min drive from Woodland Falls
Difficulty: Easy
Car park: Not needed
As owners will know, the beautiful Silver Bay Beach is on the doorstep of their holiday home. Stroll down the private footpath where you will be greeted by the glistening sandy shores of Silver Bay. The major benefits of being a holiday home owner is that the only other car park near Silver Bay is a 20 minute walk away., giving you some exclusive access to the beach.
For a slightly longer walk, turn right before you reach the beach and travel along the coastal path. You will reach Rhoscolyn beach and further along, Trearddur Bay.
South Stack Cliffs RSPB Reserve
Type: Circular
Distance: 2.6k / 1hr 10min
Where: Trearddur / 20 min drive from Silver Bay / 40 min drive from Woodland Falls
Difficulty: Easy
Car park: Yes – RSPB Elin’s Tower Car Park, S Stack Rd, Holyhead LL65 1YH
For a walk with a view head to Trearddur and visit the South Stack Cliffs. Here you will have access up to the lighthouse for the ideal viewpoint. Be sure to look out for some puffins and guillemots as well as seals and dolphins in the waters below!
Penrhos Beach
Type: Circular
Distance: 4.5k – 1 hour
Where: Holyhead / 15 min drive from Silver Bay / 35 min drive from Woodland Falls
Difficulty: Easy

Another nearby walking route only 15 minutes away is Penrhos Beach. The white sands are especially spectacular in the summer months with waters perfect for swimming. This circular route will take you by the beach, historic ruins and woodland areas so you get the best of all terrains.
Trearddur Bay to Rhoscolyn Circular Walk
Type: Circular route
Distance: 11.3k / 2hr 30
Where: Trearddur Bay, 15 minute drive from Silver Bay / 35 min drive from Woodland Falls
Difficulty: Moderate
Car park: Yes – Trearddur Bay, Holyhead LL65 2AQ
Fancy a longer walk? This is the one for you. Take in the picturesque coastal scenery with views of Snowdonia. You’ll also pass ‘The White Eagle’ bar and restaurant where you can stop for a bite to eat. Be sure to bring your walking boots!

Red Wharf Bay
Distance: 2.6k / 30 mins
Where: Pentraeth, 15 minute drive from Woodland Falls / 35 min drive from Silver Bay
Difficulty: Easy
Car park: Yes – Lon Y Traeth, Pentraeth LL75 8PX
Coastal paths are some of the best in Anglesey. Red Wharf Bay is a hard sand bay, making it easy under the foot. Bring your dog along and take in some of the best natural scenery Anglesey has to offer.
Lligwy beach – Traeth Lligwy
Where: Lligwy / 2 minute drive from Woodland Falls / 4min drive from Silver Bay
Distance: 7k 1hr 30min
Difficulty: Easy
Car park: Yes – Traeth Lligwy, Moelfre LL72 8NN
The award-winning Lligwy beach has been voted one of the best in the UK. Its unspoiled shore makes it a must visit during your stays with us at Woodland Falls. Take in the peaceful surroundings and stroll along from Moelfre to Lligwy beach and back.
Benllech Circular
Distance: 9.8k / 2 hrs 10 mins
Where: Pentraeth / 15 minute drive from Woodland Falls / 40 min drive from Silver Bay
Difficulty: Easy
Car park: Yes – Pentraeth LL75 8HJ
Usually a very quiet route, Benllech circular walk provides some incredible views out to sea. This route will take you by Traeth Coch, Red Wharf Bay, Castell Mawr Rock and Benllech. Whilst the terrain is mainly easy there are some tougher parts so appropriate footwear is advised.
Amlwch to Cemaes
Distance: 12.7k / 3hrs
Where: Maes Parcio Pothladd Amlwch / 10 min drive from Woodland Falls / 39 min drive from Silver Bay
Difficulty: Difficult
Car park: Yes – Quay St, Amlwch LL68 9HD
This longer 12.7 route is one for owners of bigger dogs looking for a good stretch. Not to worry though, this route is mostly flat and there are places for refreshments at both ends of the trail! We recommend this walk because of the combination of green countryside and the fresh sea air with accompanying views. Making it a treat for the eyes.
