How to Keep the Kids Entertained in your Luxury Lodge this Christmas

Posted: 21st December, 2015

Christmas is a fun and enjoyable time for all the family, but after they’ve spent countless days at the gorgeous Silver Bay pool and on the beach, what else can you do to keep them from boredom during the Christmas period in your luxury holiday home?

There are plenty of fun and simple activities that are the perfect way to keep the kids entertained during the break – so explore this blog for some exciting ideas that everyone can enjoy!

1. Bake a gingerbread house

If you’re trying to teach your children more about baking, then Christmas is the perfect time to do it. Baking a gingerbread house and allowing them to decorate it with icing and sweet treats is a great activity that will get everyone feeling festive.

And if a gingerbread house sounds a little too ambitious for you, then regular gingerbread men or biscuits also make the perfect backdrop for some festive decoration. Just let your imagination run wild!

2. Put on your own Nativity play

The Nativity play is one of the most pivotal moments in the Christmas calendar, so why not put on one of your own?

You don’t need to go over the top with fancy dress and props, but a little imagination and a video camera to watch your efforts back on at a later date can create some truly magical memories that will last a lifetime.

3. Create your own decorations

If you enjoy being creative and feel this is something the kids will benefit from too, then why not consider making your own decorations? Paper chains are one of the easiest items to make. All you need to do is cut coloured paper into strips and then create a loop with one of them.

By threading new loops through old ones till they link together, you can really create some beautiful decorations with minimal effort that won’t make a mess!

4. Get the board games out

Christmas tends to be a time of playing games and bonding, so why not dig out any old board games you have and spend some time playing them?

It’s a great way to bring the family together and will ensure you have some effortless fun close to hand when you feel like they might need some extra entertainment!

5. Have a Christmas movie night

Christmas films are a joy to watch for all, and if you want to have an extra special family night then why not consider putting your favourites on with a big bowl of popcorn?

It’ll also be the perfect time to indulge in the gingerbread you baked from earlier too!

6. Read the Night Before Christmas

There’s nothing as delightful as watching a child’s face light up with Christmas excitement, and to really get them in the mood for Christmas why not read the Night Before Christmas to them?

It’s a lovely tradition that you can adopt into your family every year, so we recommend that you give it a go and get them all excited for the big day.

7. Write a Christmas list to Father Christmas

Kids love writing Christmas lists to Father Christmas, so if they haven’t already then why not encourage them to this year?

If you’re worried that they’re going to launch unsuspected presents at you at the last minute, then perhaps make the focus of the letter them explaining why they deserve some lovely gifts!

It’s a joyful activity that encourages good behaviour, and the kids will have fun doing it too!
